Poetry

When writing poetry and writing about poetry there were both similarities and differences. One similarity is the communication of valuable ideas, concepts, and messages of truth or feeling about some aspect of life. Both writing poetry and writing about poetry, helped demystify many of the associated beliefs regarding poetry such as beliefs like writing poetry is difficult, or really absurd and boring. Both, writing poetry and about it helped make the process more relatable and understandable since it’s just a matter of channeling your ideas and feeling unto written words on a page or breaking down or magnifying others ideas or feelings just the same. In addition, the feeling after you create or understand a poem is really sweet and therapeutic because your able to un-attach yourself to a particular feeling, idea, experience or belief that although invisible might have been really affecting or spilling onto your life in some peculiar or particular sort of way. Differences lie in the manner of communicating the message, such as expanding or developing the idea in a original way to reinforce the authors point where as on the other side of having to write poetry you have to communicate the message directly yet in a more creative and meaningful fashion.
When writing on Robert Frost’s poem and reading another poetic explication I learned different and profound ideas. For instance, it helped shed light on the value of decisions and how that affects the level of control you have over your life. Since, individuals can make decisions that are constructive or destructive. Moreover, it helped me understand that when destructive decisions are made they may force one into a position to further waste mental, emotional energy on matters that are now outside of your control. Furthermore, one can escalate this feeling or mental state by dwelling, or regretting a particular action so that it can feel and function as a bigger loss than it really is (josh’s poem). Such an extracted idea helped serve as memorable reminder of the power of poetic words serving as a mirror or guide to reflect the real and intangible lessons or principles found in life or in any given poem. With this in mind I can use the domain of poetry as an Educator to share these truths of life, if done carefully and correctly to help other minds attain or understand such valuable ideas, arguments or messages.
