Love to travel, learn different things, I am a sports junkie to the 12th order. Love new experiences and extremes. I really try to love god although it can become a battle but all in all in many aspects thru a spiritual path you learn many truths about yourself and about life in general.
So, yeah I really want to teach at some point in my life. I think I found my niche which would be teaching esl students how to better wield the english language. Since I am predominantly of latin descent and because I often conversate in spanish very mucho. I can speak spanish fluently although I am still trying to improve my English. As a result, I believe I will be in a great position to help ell students to get a more solid grip on the English language and to use it for their benefit.
Another fear is that I will not make a real connection with students, I love making a real connection and I so want whatever I will teach to hit home. However, many good teachers can get tuned out at any given second, so we really need to be in the present, relate and stay on top of new pervading trends.
Technology, I feel can be an extremely helpful tool in moderation. I believe they will find it fun and therefore fascinate or capture their interests such as creating group powerpoint presentations on a given piece of lit. In addition, adolescents will gravitate to it because they will find a comfort in using the computer to explore the realm of literature.
Thats pretty much it for me I look forward to learning more about everyone else and their unique brand of individuality.
Much love and blessings,
Hi Jess! I found a lot of similarities in your blog. I have been thinking that I want to be an ESL teacher. I know I can definitely help those students understand and feel more comfortable with the English language. I know I am only 22, but I feel so old! I have a younger brother and sister and they think I am no longer “cool” haha it is really sad. It scares me that my students might feel the same way! I don’t want to be out of touch with the current generation, but it is definitely hard to keep up with everything. I already feel a huge gap of what I enjoyed when I was a teen and what my brother and sister seem to enjoy now. I also work in an elementary school and have found that if I can survive 25 kindergarteners I can probably survive 35 teenagers! Hopefully I am not wrong in that respect. I am looking forward to my last semester at CSUN and hope to get to know even more great people like you!
